Groups

Our self-funded groups reflect the wide range of interests, skills and experience of members, all groups are open to all members, no commitment, although some groups are limited in numbers. Groups are run using WhatsApp group communications. More details will be provided in your welcome email or at your new members meeting.

Arts, Exhibitions

& Museums

Every 4-6 weeks we visit a wide variety of art galleries, museums and exhibitions.

With lunch options and a well deserved drink at the end. 

Past trips include Faberge at V&A, Tiffany at Saatchi, Tate Britain, Royal Academy, Foundling and Charles Dickens Museums​

 

Arts & Craft

Two afternoons a week members meet to develop their artistic and crafting skills. Currently members are using watercolours and  cardmaking. Adhoc sessions such as mosaic making have also been arranged

For members who enjoy cycling. No fixed schedule of days or times, but weather permitting arrangements for a group cycle made through WhatsApp

Gardening

Members meet every 6-8 weeks to visit gardens and flower shows. In between visits members swap tips, share seeds and cuttings. There is an annual fundraising plant sale hosted by a member. Past outings include Cambridge Botanical garden, RHS Wisley, Superbloom at the Tower, Sissinghurst, Sky Garden and Benington Lordship.

Knitting & Crochet

Members meet every 2-3 weeks with their own projects or fundraising activities and as well as a relaxing knit and natter, share knitting and crochet knowledge and pass on skills to less experienced members

Members meet every 4-6 weeks to enjoy either lunch or supper at local restaurants. 

Past events include lunch at the Old Guinea, Christmas supper at Builders Arms and Chinese New Year at the Regency

Following the success of the morning session, evening sessions were introduced for those unable to make mornings. Weekly or bi-weekly evenings for beginners and more experienced players enjoying drinks and snacks

The 'Magnificent Gems' meet monthly at the Cock o' the North Monday quiz. 

The team also meets to take part in adhoc quiz events and host our own fund raising quiz events

Walking

This friendly and welcoming group meet every Thursday for a short walk followed by coffee.

Some members meet fortnightly to do  longer Health Walks and walking companions are also available on Saturday mornings.

Welcome Space

This is a group of volunteers who meet every Tuesday to provide lunch, coffee and company for the local community in liaison with a local church.

Every fortnight other WI members are invited along to use the warm space for a charity crafting session
